Lake Rotoma, Bay of Plenty.
Sixteen years ago Colin and Margaret swapped their busy life in Hong Kong and for a lifestyle block in the Bay of Plenty. It's a choice they have never looked back on. They now farm heifer calves but also have deer, goats and horses. Two years ago they decided to share a piece of their paradise with holidaymakers and built "Candleford Farm Cottage". The cottage is is located in the peaceful heart of the forest between Lakes Rotoma (the cleanest lake in New Zealand!) and Rotoehu. Lake Rotoma is approximately 30 mins from Rotorua, Whakatane and unspoilt beaches of the Bay of Plenty. The Cottage A simple but spacious two bedroom cottage is able to sleep 6 - 8 people (max) with two single beds, a queen and a king. There is also a fold out sofa bed in the lounge. The cottage is fully equipped with all you need for a comfortable holiday and linen is supplied. The cottage is also wheelchair friendly. Seasonal highlights What's makes this place special? |
Out & About As Lake Rotoma is so clean and the beaches near to the farm are of white sand, it is a very pleasant place to swim - children and all ages will enjoy themselves.
If boating and fishing appeals there are boat launching ramps on excellent trout lakes only minutes from the bach. Boat fishing here is popular and rewarding. Or you could do a day trip to one of the local sea beaches are beautiful. |
"Those at the top of the range are extremely good and this comes from one who lived in Hong Kong for many years!" Colin & Margaret's pick of them all is the Harbourside Waterfront Dining in Tauranga with the Wharf Shed Restaurant in Whakatane a close second! - White Island, an active volcano off Whakatane.
