Lake Tarawera, Bay of Plenty.

Paul & Ashley are happy to share their holiday home with families from around the world - they encourage you to come and share in what they have discovered to be a very special place - Lake Tarawera has it all!

Where?

Our Jolly Lake House is located approx 13 kms from Rotorua. It is the perfect distance Ð a real balance between feeling like you are really getting away from it all, surrounded by a peaceful setting, and being one with nature ---- however you still have easy access to the many tourist attractions, shops and activities that Rotorua offers all year around.

Why did you decide to buy a bach in this particular spot?

We love Lake Tarawera because it is one of the cleanest most beautiful lakes in New Zealand. Lake Tarawera was recently voted the safest place in the country. It is a wonderful community of people who enjoy the outdoors.

We are an active family --- we love boating, water skiing, kayaking, hiking, picnics, BBQ's and having great times together with both friends and family. This area lends itself to all of those activities almost year around. And our Jolly Lake House in particular is the perfect family home and vacation retreat for us - the home offers views of Lake Tarawera and tranquil farmland, and forest views from the back yard.

Favourite item you have bought for the house?

A ping pong table!!! Provides both sunny and rainy day activity.

Don't miss a visit to?

Hot Water Beach

What do you like to do most when you get to the bach?

The house is in one of the few great spots along Spencer Road that gets absolutely great sun all day long and more importantly all year round --- we live off the front deck and lawn area in the morning and out the back with the BBQ and outdoor dining furniture by evening. The house is surrounded by decks and caters to outdoor living!

Exploring

Whether you bring your own boat or you hire the Tarawera Boat Taxi you can access all of the local favourite spots! Visit Tarawera Falls, Lake Rotomahana, and the Buried Village.
As you turn on to lake Tarawera Road the Redwood Forest is on the right, providing you with endless walks, hiking and mountain biking tracks including Lake Okareka and the Blue and Green Lakes... all of which have nice playgrounds for children, gorgeous trail hikes, bird watching, fishing and boating.

Fond bach memories?

Teaching our children to water ski!
Making dinner and having it together out on the lake in the evenings.
Picnics and relaxing on the many secluded beaches in the day.

Raindy Dayz ideas

We love, and actually need, the excuse of a rainy day to relax around home - the house has a great living area with fireplace and large dining table to gather around for games, cards or a feast of any kind!!, bird watching, fishing and boating. Enjoy a game on the ping pong table.

Eating out

The Landing restaurant right on the lake at Tarawera is a gorgeous spot to dine or have a drink - our favourite!

Guest Feedback

We have great guest feedback --- love the house, especially the setting, the easily accessible location to Stoney Point Reserve - hikes and lake activities.
