Opito Bay is a mere 15 minute drive east of Kerikeri township. Kerikeri is a vibrant town situated in the hub of the Bay of Islands with a population of approximately 6000. Friends and business partners Andrew, Anita, Alister and Letitia invite you to come and enjoy everything the beautiful Bay of Islands has to offer by staying in their house at Opito Bay Kerikeri... What made you get a holiday home? Our beach house or 'Opito Palms' as it has recently been named, was purchased by ourselves and another couple earlier this year. We love the outdoors especially water sports and felt that 'Opito Palms' was supremely positioned to take advantage of all the activities that the Bay of Islands has to offer, not to mention the stunning views. We hope that our own families may one day enjoy the benefits of our beach house too. We are delighted to be in a position to share our property with other people so that they may enjoy a great holiday or weekend away in such a great spot.
Favourite purchase for the beach house? Buying the BBQ and outdoor furniture so we can sit and enjoy lazy summer days overlooking the bay. |
Positive experiences from renting to others? Apart from New Zealand, our visitors have also come from Australia, Canada and the UK. It is very satisfying receiving feedback from our guests about their experience at 'Opito Palms'. Some recent comments include;
Must sees? Visit the historic Stone Store Basin where you can explore Kemp House, Rewa's Village, a replica Maori village, or take the walking track to Rainbow Falls. Favourite holiday pastimes at the bach? Jetskiing out to the mighty "Hole in the Rock", Cape Brett and sighting a pod of dolphins. They were fascinating to watch and quite a few of them in particular spent their time surfing the bow wave of the jetski. Exploring the many islands around the Bay of Islands that are reserves and are great for visiting. One in particular is Roberton Island which is a great swimming beach (there is even a snorkelling trail in a sheltered lagoon for all to enjoy) and picnic spot. Heading out on the boat to one of many great dive spots and catching crayfish. We love the diving here, as there is interesting terrain, clear waters and amazing marine life then doing a spot of fishing and finishing up with scallops making for our perfect seafood dinner. |
Best spot at the bach? Getting in the spa in winter or after a day out on the water and watching the activity going on at the beach and later listening out for the sound of Kiwi's. Best time of year to holiday? Kerikeri and the Bay of Islands is known as the "Winterless North", so it is a great all year round holiday spot with each season offering its special charm. For us though, summer has an edge over the winter months as it is a great location for boating, fishing, diving, waterskiing, jetskiing, and swimming or simply relaxing on the deck and admiring the stunning sea views.
