Queenstown, Southern Lakes.

A beautiful rural tranquil place to paint or just stay and enjoy. Overlooking a creek with views of the Remarkable Mountains from the double bed.

The History...

The artist's cabin was built to be just the type of place I would want if I was on holiday - lovely views; simple, beautiful setting; stylish, contemporary colours; wooden floors; king size bed; private; great feel... I hope that artists will come and paint here.

The Perfect Holiday Cabin

When asked why I build it - I built it as the perfect holiday cabin - just what I would want if I was on holiday. We always had our family holidays in Arrowtown (summer and winter) and have very happy memories.

About me...

I have been a full time painter for 20 years, with a working studio open to the public just 50 metres away. I paint portraits, people, horses, boats, scenery, nudes and impressionistic painting and have sold my work in over 20 different countries.

The Best Things About This Area Are...

That you get your money's worth out of each season!
Winter - with snow, sparkling sunny days, and big frosts.
Autumn - with amazing colours.
Summer - burning hot, cool water, hot stones at the river.
Spring - you can almost see things growing, bursting out.
Queenstown is a year round destination!

Best spot

My favourite spot has to be beautiful Lake Hayes for swimming, biking, walking, and picnics.

Family Time

Head off to the Skateboard park, play frisbee, golf in the gardens, swimming in the rivers or lakes.
Go ice-skating on a natural pond
Drive to Glenorchy at the head of Lake Wakatipu.

Activities

• Skyline gondola and luge
• Para-penting
• Horseriding
• Rafting or jet-boating
• Mountain-biking
• Bungy bridge on the Kawarau River
• Arrowtown and the Chinese Miners Village
• Dorothy Brown's Cinema in Arrowtown for arthouse films
• A visit to Skippers Canyon
• Take the Gondola to the Skyline up Bobs Peak

My Favourites...

Walking to Sam Summer's hut near Closeburn Station or to Sawpit Gully up the Arrow river.
Go camping at Glenorchy.
Swimming, boating, fishing.

Rainy Dayz

Discover Arrowtown or Queenstown libraries.
Take a trip on the 1912 vintage steamship "Earnslaw" to Walter Peak sheep station.
See the swimming pool at the new aquatic centre at Frankton.

Eating Out

Favourites of mine are Saffron or Pesto at Arrowtown - both top spots, but book Saffron early as its very popular!

Fondest Memory

Evening barbeques with friends, with tennis and drinks and cricket.
