For 2 couples in their 70s, this was a relaxing and peaceful place to stay. The kitchen is well-equipped for self catering. The only minor downside is having the toilet in the bathroom - you just need to be organized!

Lovely comfortable place - though TV and washing machine were waiting for a repair person to attend to problems that had earlier been reported. Otherwise - a great place to stay regardless of weather!

Great little place with comfy beds. It has fly screens on the windows which was great as the weather was warm. The shower hasn't got great pressure.

We had a really enjoyable stay in this well equipped cottage. It had everything we needed (including a compost bin), was close to the mouth of the lagoon (good for heron spotting) and was very quiet.

Okarito is magical place to visit, enjoy, and recharge your batteries. We stayed for five days and could have easily stayed longer. Brian and Raewyn were excellent hosts and made us feel very welcome as did all the permanent residents. Cedar Cottage was a home away from home, it was well equipped with everything you needed. Thanks so much Brian and Raewyn for your hospitality.
Kindest Regards Roddy & Ange, Cromwell.

We were two couples, staying for 4 nights in mid-winter. We found this very comfortable, warm and well-designed for West Coast conditions. There was plenty of covered space for the outdoor types to shed and store their boots etc, masses of wood and kindling for the excellent little wood-burner and a good, well-equipped kitchen. Friendly, unobtrusive service. Thanks Raewyn & Brian.

Okarito is a magical spot, for scenery and birdlife. We did the Eco Boat tour which was also a big success.

The cottage was great! It's was tidy, clean and cosy warm. The fire was set up to go on our arrival. We had a fab time the walks and wild life were beautiful. To top it off the sunset and sunrise were stunning. Be prepared for sand flies though, the cottage has screens, but you will need repellent. We Highly Recommend staying here our family loved it!

Modern and clean, like a motel. Well equipped kitchen. No toys for kids. Good flyscreens to cope with Okarito sandflies. Brian and Raewyn were accommodating in letting our family stay. Enjoyed discovering Okarito.

This was our first trip to Okarito and it is a truly magical spot away from the hustle and bustle of the tourist centres. The house is very well appointed, clean and tidy and booking with Brian and Raewyn was very easy. The kids were also pleasantly surprised to find WiFi, not that they had much chance to use it. Highly recommended and hope we can get back some time.

We had a great time here! It rocked! We think it is one of the best Baches we have EVER stayed in. It's awesome how it is so close to the sea, so you can walk down there. We loved kayaking, walking and exploring at Okarito. Thanks for the Bach!

Two nights but only one full day - And oh! What a day!

Three hours kayaking up the lagoon with Okarito Nature Tours - great guide - lots of birds, "bush" so different from Aussie bush. Then soaked our weary muscles at Glacier Hot Pools Aaaah! Worth the money - BIG cuppa coffee at Blue Ice Franz Josef. Regroup then trot up the Trig walk in time for sunset, clouds parted while we were there to reveal all the magnificent peaks! What an awesome creation - thanks to our wonderful creator. Just like this beautiful home away from home - lovely, carefully planned and such lovely colour coordination and thoughtfulness.

Well done and many thanks.

Rick, Sandra and Serena from OZ.
Thanks so much Raewyn and Brian, to have prepared such an amazing place for your guests.

The comfort, the charm, all the details of the house organisation, makes the stay here perfect.

Thank you for treating your guests with such high quality equipment, kitchen, bathroom cleaning, hi-fi and TV, in such a lovely place.

Thanks so much.

Cedar Cottage was an absolutely delightful place to stay and I think I have found my own personal paradise in Okarito. The accomodation was lovely and welcoming, the fire warmed the place through beautifully. This is simply one of the most charming and welcoming places I have ever stayed and it truly felt like a home away from home.

Thank you Brian and Raewyn. Okarito was quite a find and we loved the seclusion of this village of some 20 or 30 people. The walks and beaches are marvellous. Cedar Cottage was even more of a surprise as we found it beautifully decorated inside, without going over the top. We wanted to avoid the tourist haven of Franz Josef and we were so happy that we found your cottage. Thank you also for the small gift that you left us. Mark

Okarito was the only place in New Zealand I really wanted to see, otherwise I've been happy to see everything we've seen. But only this place has had a special meaning to me - even before we came. It has not let me down, in fact it feels almost painful to leave.

Cedar Cottage has been by far the best accommodation we've had, it's perfect!
Thank you so much for making my dream come true!

Spent awesome two days in Okarito, beautiful weather, spectacular sunset, sighting of Kiwis on the night tour, will recommend this place to everyone. Must be the comfiest beds in NZ. Many thanks for the gift.

What a lovely place to stay!

We arrived to find a present from Raewyn--beautiful coasters from hand-spun wool!! The cottage itself was immaculate and comfortable. And it is located so close to the beach! A wonderful place to recharge and do as little or as much as you want.

We walked up to the trig track to see Mt. Cook poking out of the clouds and over to three-mile on the pack track. We kayaked on the lagoon and saw Kotuku and Spoonbills. We had coffee at the Kayak shop, took in a music concert at Donovan's store and even had a chance to take a yoga class.

This is truly one of the most gorgeous places in New Zealand, and this cottage was a pleasure to stay in. Thank you Brian & Raewyn!!

Fabulous! A little haven of comfort and serenity! Time wasn't long enough for us to enjoy everything that you had at our disposal.

We walked on the beach amongst the foamy waves and the froth saw some great waves. We did a morning boat tour on the lagoon, it was a fantastic experience! Saw herons, black swans, shags, pigeons...

This is really the place were you should stay if you want to experience something off the beaten track.

The cottage has everything one could want. Thanks for leaving us your card; we will certainly recommend your place to other friends in Europe who will be going to New Zealand next year.

Typical West Coast welcome - heavy rain and flooding in Greymouth. Then arrival to fire lit; coaster gift and ice for my Whisky - bliss.

254 steps up to Trig to a spectacular vista of Southern Alps in cloudless winter splendour, also Okarito Lagoon.

Franz Josef and Fox Glaciers, lunch at Lake Matheson and out to Gillespie's Beach.

Finally Three Mile Lagoon along the beach and back over the Pack - Track. Sunday session at Kayak coffee shop.

So cosy and comfortable. This trip reinforces how fortunate we are to live and contribute to this amazing country. Thanks for your hospitality.
