Lovely well equipped cottage. Owner was very helpful by allowing me to trickle charge our EV to 100% and enabling us to get to Wanaka without having to stop for a slow recharge on route. It would have been useful to realize there was no milk supplied .. and the nearest shop 50 minutes drive.

Hi Bryan, glad you enjoyed your stay at the Cottage and was happy to help you out with your vehicle. Just a note re the supplies (for other guests reading your review), instructions emailed with your booking confirmation did explain that all supplies must be brought with you. This is due to the remote location and not wanting perishables to go off between guests. Also, instructions you received explained that the closest store to Ōkārito is in Franz Josef (25 mins drive away). All the best for the rest of your travels 🌺

This cottage is really comfortable and welcoming, and we loved the creative touches with decoration. The weather was cold while we were there, but the cottage was warm (heat pump). The cottage had nice shrubbery around it (which attracted bellbirds by the front door), and that added to the cozy feeling. We would definitely stay there again.

I really enjoyed staying here. It is one of those houses that feels welcoming, friendly and warm the minute you step inside the door. It is additionally delightful because of the way it has been decorated - it's like a quirky wee art gallery. I loved the use of driftwood for things like door handles and hooks.. and to make a little giraffe sculpture. Good use of space (and driftwood!) to make the downstairs bedroom - it's like a snug ship's cabin. Very comfy bed(s) with good sheets, pillows etc, and decent water pressure in the shower. Lovely place to stay in a lovely part of NZ.

I already left a review on tripadvisor, but thought I should leave one here too because this is where I found this amazing bach. We stayed here for a week and loved it. Its very cosy, really comfortable beds, super well equipt kitchen, a little bit quirky and it really felt like home for our time there. The owners were super easy to deal with, very helpful with any question, and the instructions for access easy too. Would love to go back and would definitely recommend it. Thanks so much for the chance to share your little gem.

Rang in the New Year in this delightful cottage in a quiet, lovely part of the West Coast. We even tried out the outdoor bath which we so enjoyed (apart ftom the sand flies lol) we might set one up at home. Kayaking was also wonderful and our 2 nights passed very quickly indeed. Great getaway.

I spent 9 nights in my favorite spot in the world, Okarito Lagoon.

This time I stayed at www.okaritoholidaycottage.com

The cottage is very cosy, relaxing, clean and full of little creative touches.
The bed is wonderful, the free wifi works, the deck and backyard are lovely with an amazing view.

Loved my stay at this little cottage and will be back when possible!!

We had a fantastic time at The Cottage... so much to do, so relaxing, and the cottage actually looks like the pictures - maybe even better. Kaylene was professional, helpful, easy to deal with and very friendly. The cottage is so well appointed that it feels like you're really at home.

The town itself is gorgeous, with the most beautiful atmosphere, and the weather was perfect. We saw a visiting band, paddled the lagoon, walked all the trails, had an awesome fire bath under the stars and soaked up every perfect minute... we'll be back! Thankyou Kaylene! :) :) :)

We enjoyed staying in your cottage thanks. We loved Okarito. Very relaxing, friendly neighbours. We did the 3hr walk at low tide. Didn't catch any fish but had fun trying! Not a cloud in the sky for the 2 days we were there. We did find the living space too small for 3 adults and 2 children though as it was a combined living area and sleeping space.

The bach is a real gem with a modern kitchen & bathroom. In a great location! We packed a lot into our short stay, the kiwi spotting with Ian is a must! Waiting for 'white-eyes' appearance was very rewarding... next morning we took an early morning stroll to the 3 mile lagoon for perfect reflections!! Need to come back soon ;-))
