We stayed just one week with friend of ours (so we were 2 couples and 3 children): I guess these were among the most memorable holidays we spent! Landscape is just magnifiscent with a 360° view from almost anywhere in the house, Kathryn and Markus are so kind, activities so fun (cheese making, farm visit...) and the whole region around is full of really great adventures and activities! We will have to come back again because there is so much to do there, and we will go back at Tuck Inn for sure if we come back!

What a great experience! Thank you so much Kathryn for the fantastic stay. Very clean and so child friendly. Short driving distance from all activities in Rotorua and we loved to watch the farm activities. We highly recommend Tuck Inn and it's a great home away from home.

We had an amazing time at this place, it is beautiful beyond words. The sunrise was breath taking to see from here.

We really enjoyed the hospitality, Kathryn went beyond and out of her way to make sure we had the most memorable trip, she kept the house warm for us when we reached in the evening. Very very sweet of her.

Will definitely recommend anyone to stay here, you will have the time of your life, its peaceful and heavenly!

Thank you Kathryn and Marcus for providing us with such a nice getaway.

kind regards,

Gosh, I'm so sad to leave this place. Now I'm back to the boring reality world once again, and I long to go back here... Tuck Inn was so perfect in every way - I couldn't recommend this place enough. Everything is just a 5 star.

We are a young couple who stayed here for two nights, mid April.

We stayed here to celebrate our 19th & 21st birthdays together, and was seeking something unique and different - so we looked into farm stays, and Tuck Inn sounded just perfect!

When we arrived, the view was amazing (on a foggy day!), with so much land, hills and a nice pine forrest, and tracks/trecks, plus barns, and everything a farm offers..

If you really want to escape the dull city life, and escape the noise, traffic, the people and just relax then stay here. This place is worth so much more than they charged, and I promise it is a fantastic deal they offer. Even as students (poor) - this place was worth every cent.

I would like to mention Cain - the friendlist farm dog ever. He is not aggressive, hes so loving and caring! He followed us everywhere when not on a leash.

Take time to see the farm animals, if you can manage waking up at 6am to see the cows being milked, it is worth it. then take a walk to feed the chickens, then take the scenic farm walk back and watch the cows being fed.

The more I comment, the more I want to return.

Do not look past this place to stay.

Tips: Do grocery shopping before hand on way, as the nearest grocers are around 19km away, and so it is worth while buying food before hand.

1 night is just too short. we stayed 2 nights, and wish we spent the week.

perfect for young couples (us), animal lovers espeshially!, families, and older couples, and firends.

Once again, thank you Tuck Inn for this superb stay, thank you for giving the opportunity to us to have a break from our busy/crazy/hectic/dull city lives.

The house is 3 bedroom, and beautiful! and is a great quality place to stay.
we were greated on arrival, plus with a delicious home made loaf of bread.
Their were tea, coffee and sugar. The bedrooms are big, and spacious. Two with queen/king beds, and the third with two singles, so ideal and perfect for families.

The log burner keeps you warm, and their are extra blankets in closit. We also noticed many baby/infant facilities, and realised the Tuck family keeps you very well looked after, providing an exeptional service.

What a Fantastic Holiday we had at Tuck Inn. We were 3 adults and 2 children. We were greeted with the aroma of new baked bread and a welcome message from the owners. Everything was perfect! It was home from home! We had great fun watching the cows being milked and feeding the pigs. Rotorua is only a short drive away, Taupo a little further. We did the farm tour and cheese making. If you are looking to stay in a wonderful location, fresh air, and great views - this is the place. A+++

were were all very sad to leave Tuck Inn after 4 wonderful days - without a doubt the best farm stay experience in our 3 month trip to both islands. our boys aged 2 and 4 were particularly sad to leave the farm dog behind after much petting, and feeding chickens pigs and watching cows being milked. thank you Kathryn and Marcus

Without a doubt by far the best farm stay we have stayed in, part way through a 3 month trip to both islands. well done to Kathryn and Marcus for their welcome, and willingness to discuss all aspects of the farm. Our boys aged 4 and 2 were very sad to leave after 4 wonderful nights, as were we.

Tuck Inn was the best!! Walking in to the smell of fresh baked bread, a warm note written on the chalk board and the cozy home - - - perfect!! Fully equipped for a group (although we were just two), the kitchen was generous, the beds comfortable and the wood stove was amazing.

We were nicely located to do things in Rotorura and surrounding areas, but life on the farm was great! We were there in spring so had baby calves, chicks and piglets.

Kathryn was a spectacular hostess and made us feel welcome and part of the family. We even did some chores!

We'll be back and this time with the rest of our family!!

Just returned from a 2+ week stay in New Zealand. Without question, Tuck Inn was our favorite home. And I mean HOME! We walked into the house and the smell of home baked bread and a hand-written note on the chalkboard welcoming us.

The house is spacious (too big for just the two of us!) and well equipped for cooking, sleeping and just being cozy by the fire.

The working farm is incredible and we were lucky to be there in the spring and see lots of newborns. Fresh milk daily, baby calves to feed, waiting for the piglets to be born - - - - such fun!!

The farm is centrally located to access Rotorura and the surrounding area, but it's so nice to be away in the country for the peace and quiet.

We will return and this time with more family!!

We were so impressed with Tuck Inn. The house was roomy, immaculate and had absolutely EVERYTHING we needed, including really great water pressure in the showers! The fire warmed the whole house and we relaxed in t-shirts while it was well below zero outside. Everybody we had the pleasure of meeting made us feel so welcome - we really did immediately feel so at home! Our 6 and 3 year old boys had such a wonderful time and did not want to come home, and neither did we! A very special, magical place.

We have now stayed here 3 times and plan to go again. You can relax and be treated to excellent hospitality. We had a 4 year old and a 75 year old with us - both enjoyed themselves. You could call us Junkies who keep going back but who don't want to be cured.

Our stay could not have been better, from the warm log fire welcome, smell of bread baking (just what we needed on arrival) and fresh milk every morning direct from the farm. Amazing views and very comortable beds !! Perfect location for young and old. Gave us also a good insight as to what life on a farm is really all about. Close to the action at Rotorua , yet I could have just sat for hours and watched the view. Thank you so much - we shall return

What more can one ask for at Tuck Inn. Freshly baked bread on arrival, friendly hosts, clean and cosy cottage, and close proximity to all attractions of Rotorua and Taupo. Kathryn and Marcus also switched on the snow for us…bonus! You may need to wait another 50 years before they can do that again though. Great place to get away from the hustle and bustle of the city, and just enjoy the tranquillity of the farm surroundings. Our young children (3.5 yrs and 1.5 yrs) enjoyed the open spaces, and loved interacting with the cows, pigs and chickens. Definitely a break to remember and somewhere we’re likely to return to once the children are a little older. Loved it so much, and highly recommended. Missing Tuck Inn as I type this.

We had a fabulous holiday, such a great place to relax and breath the country air. The kids absolutely loved their animal encounters, feeding the pigs and chickens and naming the baby calves - and climbing the rolling hills. Kathryn and Marcus were wonderful hosts and gave us a great insight into the farming lifestyle. Highly recommended!

If you love a rural wonderland, a homestead atop a hill with views aplenty, the smells of freshly baked bread on arrival, ample and homely accommodation with a roaring fire place, a nights sky full of stars with no interruption, huge kitchen, BBQ and the farm experiences like cows a milking, pigs & chickens to feed, cheese to make and heaps more, combined with a welcoming party of Kathryn & Markus then this is the place for you... and that's before you leave the property - 25mins to Rotorua City and all the action and bubbling mud to explore and entice. My husband, our two children and I had a lovely adventure and would recommend to anyone and any age, to relax or not!

To us Tuck Inn proved to be a real treasure hard to leave behind. If you live in a huge city, arriving to a cozy place with fabulous panoramas from each window and no people around you makes you feel like you're dreaming. The house is situated on a hill, you can even catch a cloud sea beneath you early in the morning. Every kind of amenity you can think of is at your hand. Big bonus for small children - twin bed room with lots of toys (it kept my 4 year old daughter busy!). If enjoying peace and tranquility of the place is not enough, your friendly hosts Kathryn and Markus are ready to suggest you dozens of interesting local activities (the gem is Kathryn's cheese-making class!). We will definitely like to come back!

This is a little gem! We've just enjoyed our second long weekend at the Tuck Inn. It's a wonderful slice of farm life, very peaceful with beautiful views all around. The kids loved feeding the pigs and seeing the newly hatched chicks. However, with Rotorua just 20 mins away it's also a great spot for families that want some action but also enjoy getting away from it all. The house is clean, has everything you could need and the hosts are lovely, friendly people. We'll be back again.....

Me and my husband have just come back from this wonderful time we spent at the Tuck Inn Farmstay.
We were welcomed by this wonderful smell of fresh homemade bread and a lovely welcoming message on a chalkboard - which made us feel cared and tucked in already!
The farm is beautifully surrounded by peaceful and relaxing views. Their homestay was amazingly clean, comfortable, warm and very well equipped (from kitchenware to reading material and games).
Kathryn and Marcus are great hosts and very thoughtful and caring people. Not only they have kindly organized folders with suggestions on what to do in their farm and cities around it but also took us to see the piglets , chickens and explained to us about farming which has definitely made us change our idea about it and appreciate even more the milk we drink every morning.
The cheese making course is something we totally recommend! It's a lot of fun and a very useful skill.
We are very grateful for having met and spent time with the Tuck family. It has definitely been a life changing experience.
We had an awesome time and we are certainly going back (for a longer period and taking friends!!!).

My four guests from UK counted the two nights we spent at Tuck Inn as the best accommodation they had whilst in NZ. We walked in to the smell of freshly baked bread ( still warm) and an extremely clean and well appointed accommodation and very well equipped. Kathryn was so friendly and went out of her way to direct us to all the good spots around the area for tourists . She even delivered new laid eggs in very wet and cold weather. This place is ideal for anyone from babes to elderly. We will return!! Pam and UK relatives.

When we booked this place we were not sure what we will find when we get there as photos in the net are not always true indicators. What we found though this time, was 10 times better. This beautiful house is equipped with all you need, situated on a high ground of a huge farm in a way that you get the best view of its surrounding. Owners, Marcus and Kathryn are amazingly helpful and friendly. We learned a lot and enjoyed our time thoroughly. We definitely go there again and again. Thanks

Tuck Inn Farmstay was the best place we stayed in during our entire stay in NZ. The hosts are very friendly and willing to help. The house is clean and tidy and has a well-equipped kitchen, toys for the kids, and books and magazines to read. Our children loved meeting 'Pebbles' the goat and all the other animals. If we are ever in the area again, we would definitely go back to Tuck Inn, and would recommend it to family/friends. Very relaxing, and great value for money.
Thanks Kathryn & Marcus for your awesome hospitality.

Testament to what a wonderful holiday we had at Tuck Inn was overhearing my 5 year old son telling his best friend at school all about feeding cows, milking them, and how much food pigs can eat! Having initially booked a 2 night stay we quickly fell in love with everything about Tuck Inn and extended our stay another night. Kathryn and Marcus made us feel completely welcome in their wonderful part of New Zealand - our 3 children have a new appreciation of all things important in life, and have experienced what it is to be truly a New Zealander. Thank you both for a wonderful few days.

Of all the motels/hotels/homestays we have stayed in, Tuck Inn and its wonderful hosts, Kathryn & Marcus, are right up there. We have never come across a more friendly and helpful lady than Kathryn - she deserves all the accolades that many of her guests have bestowed upon her. Tuck Inn is a delight; beautiful setting away from the hustle and bustle of the city, fantastic views, wonderful facilities and oh so comfortable. Although we spent most of our time in Rotorua (because we had a small granddaughter who "needed" the touristy things) we could have very comfortably "vegged out" at Tuck Inn for the duration of our stay which was far too brief anyway. Can't wait to return, next time with more of our family and friends. Thanks Kathryn, for your superb hospitality.

Wow, where do we start. What a fantastic couple of days we had. As soon as we stepped through the door and the smell of fresh raisin bread baking in the breadmaker hit us we knew we had made the right choice in Tuck Inn. The homemade camembert in the fridge for us to enjoy was also fantastic. Tuck Inn is very family friendly which made it relaxing for us and our three boys 9 and 3 year old twins. Well appointed, beautifully decorated and extremely clean. Being able to see cows being milked up close, pigs - well just being pigs as they eat and then the visit by a friendly local goat was the highlight of our boys stay. Tuck Inn is a credit to Kathryn and Marcus who in themselves are some of the most thoughtful and caring people we have ever met. Nothing is to much trouble for them. My husbands work bought us to New Zealand but Tuck Inn will bring us back. Many thanks to Kathryn and Marcus, our new friends in New Zealand. What a Blessing.

The farm is beautiful and well maintained and the hosts, Kathryn and Marcus, are the most gracious people.

Apart from amazing views, excellent location, beautiful home, incredible hospitality, a stay at Tuck Inn is a perfect must for families with children of all ages, couples of friends looking to unwind. Or as was our intention, have an "extreme" holiday with our grandsons before we became uncool.
We were looking for a central place between Rotorua and Taupo and ended up in a "slice of heaven". Lots of activities during the day, energizing walks up "that hill", wonderful fires at night, lots of laughter, nil generation gap and mobile phones that disappeared afteer the first night.
Our two weeks in NZ (both North & South Islands) the boys 16yrs and 14yrs place Tuck Inn as the highlight of their holiday, and have asked their parents to bring them back.
Kathryn thank you for the Hot Cross Buns and homemade bread, your warmth and hospitality. Marcus & Stephen - the boys had a fantastic time.
