“Gillespie Family. What an amazing spot! this was our second time to the bach and gets better every time. The rain did not stop our activities and all felt like we had had a weeks holiday. Caught trout in the first hour (ritual to put first one back in the water), plenty of trout alas not biting. Read heaps in the visitors book about deer and pigs, are you able to share your secret on where they are?
Very kid (preschool) friendly, to the top of the hill was like climbing a mountain – they had lots of adventures.
Thanks again and we will be in touch to book again.”
“This is such a beautiful place. We all had an amazing time. Great fly fishing rivers with plenty of trout, surrounded by alpine forests makes this the perfect getaway for friends and family. We will defiantly go back very soon :) “
“Magic spot, loved it. Will definately go back.”
“we had an awesome stay in the house, enjoyed all the things the area had to offer river, walks etc. the whoe group agreed that we would love to go back there sometime in the future ( didnt really enjoy the sand flies though )”
“Had a great weekend. Enjoyed being ‘back to basics’. Plenty of sleeping space with lots of room for the kids to run around outside. Nice wander to the creek where the chn paddled/swam. The boys enjoyed the opportunity to go hunting (even if they didn’t get anything!). Ideal ‘halfway’ location to meet up with friends from Christchurch (we’re in Nelson). We hope to meet up there again soon.”
“I took a school sports team i coach to this bach for a weekend retreat. It was AWESOME!!! Completely peaceful – no neighbours to worry about, beautiful surroundings (snow capped mountains, alpine river, sweet native bush), and peaceful as. It it a great place to get away from the hussle and bussle of the city. It’s also really well equipped with heaps of beds, a great kitchen and other stuff. The petrol generator kept the lights going well into the night, and the gas was all stocked easy to use. In short… Awesome place… loved it”
“Lovely isolated spot. Really suited our back to basic requirements. Meg the dog loved it too. We’ll be back with friends. Many thanks”
“Oh! Feedback’s always helpful! Our crew stayed here for a week for our New Years holiday 2005/06. It’s a pretty remote spot and the house is VERY RUSTIC. Not for pussies or those expecting luxury – nevertheless it was perfect for our group – plenty of room, gas (lighting, cooking, fridge), firewood and a wetback. With a 5 minute walk to the beautiful Maruia river, we were full of expectation of days of fishing, hunting, swimming in the lovely swimming holes and tubing. Unfortunately it rained alot! We had a few problems with the water supply as it’s creek-fed. You can’t plan the weather but for an intrepid bunch of kiwis this is a really great spot for outdoorsy holiday pursuits. Bring your own BBQ and outdoor furniture. General consensus was that we would like to return.”
