Description
Lovely central townhouse in the small medieval village of Issigeac in the south west of France. Famous for its Sunday Markets you step out the front door straight into a world of real French culture. Selling fresh local produce and crafts such as cheese, foie gras, plums, wild mushrooms, wine and fresh oysters. Amenities include grocery stores.cafes, bars, butcher, bakery, hotel, petrol station, pharmacy, clothes and novelty shop, organic shop (organic and gluten free etc). There is also a local visitor center with lots of info on things to do and see in our beautiful area and beyond.Closest large town is Bergerac and the closest large city is Bordeaux that both have airports. Spanish border is approx 3 hours drive, if you travel along the smaller roads. Issigeac is a medieval village but it is not a fortified town. So the usual 'grid patten' of streets gives way to Higgledy-Piggledy alleyways. It contains numerous lanes and narrow winding streets, hemmed in by ancient timbered houses, and is a pleasure to explore. The town is less spoiled in lots of ways but I would not leave it too long to visit as that is already changing.
