We are proud to host New Zealand’s only giant saltwater crocodiles - the world’s apex predators. Scar and Goldie were imported into NZ in early 2009 along with our 5 baby alligators. Complementing these wonderful reptiles is our magnificent tropical butterfly house with over 750 free-flying tropical butterflies, smaller reptiles and various bird species.
We host the captive rear and release programme for NZ’s giant wetapunga, one of the world’s largest insects. You’ll see these guys on display in Greenfingers Bugs About, together with a wide range of other fascinating insects including 16 beautiful tarantula. You can delight in NZ’s largest marine coral and fresh-water tropical aquaria. Buttermilk Farm has all your farmyard favourites. Other wildlife can be observed from the Red Admiral Express Train as it circulates our working wetlands.
