Description
Aotea Harbour is on the West Coast about an hour from Hamilton. South of Raglan and ten minutes from Kawhia. This small seaside community of about 60 baches is reminiscent of New Zealand beach holidays of old. No palatial ‘holiday homes' here. This small 2 bedroom bach has just had a 30sqm addition including an upstairs room and viewing deck and a real kitchen. Its 30m across the lawn from the high tide giving a fantastic view of beach, harbour, across the water to the spectacular huge dunes and stunning West Coast sunsets.Totally relax in the surroundings or walk along the beach to the heads and bar or trek further along Ocean Beach and dig your own hot pool in the sand at low tide. These pools can also be reached by car via Kawhia which also has a good museum and great fish and chips. Aotea has good safe swimming and enough sand at low tide to fly a kite. Have a go at hooking a kingfish from the beach or bring your boat and explore the upper harbour; set a flounder net . Horse treks available locally. Great winter retreat or summer family beach holiday

Reviews
“The cottage could best be described as a real ‘Kiwi Bach’. It is superbly situated beside the water’s edge. The cottage is very comfortable and well appointed. What could be more idyllic than sitting on the verandah sipping a glass of wine, reading a good book and watching the tides come and go. For the more energetic there is fishing, boating, kayaking, swimming and walking. If you run out of provisions Kawhia is only 10km away. Alternatively you can try the gourmet takeaways from just around the corner. For anyone that wants a relaxing holiday a stay in this cottage is a ‘must do’.

“Fantastic location. Great bach. Best holiday we have had in years. Wonderful, relaxing place. Highly recommended. Though selfishly we would love to keep it a secret. Thanks to Phil and family for setting up a place with everything one could ever need!! “

“Thanks for the great little holiday at your batch. Really enjoyed our stay, hope to stay again in the future. Real kiwi batch right by the waters edge hoping to come back so that we can do some kayaking.”
