Description

Aotea Harbour is on the West Coast just over an hour from Hamilton. South of Raglan and a ten minute drive to Kawhia. This small seaside community of about 60 baches is reminiscent of New Zealand beach holidays of old. No palatial ‘holiday homes' here. This small basic 2 bedroom bach (only 3m x 12m plus 2.5x2m foyer) is 30 metres from the high tide giving a fantastic view of beach, harbour, across the water to the spectacular huge sand dunes and stunning West Coast sunsets.

Totally relax in the surroundings or walk along the beach out to the heads and bar or trek further along Ocean Beach and dig your own hot pool in the sand at low tide. These pools can also be reached by car via Kawhia which also has a good local museum and great fish and chips. Aotea has good safe swimming and enough sand at low tide to fly a kite. Have a go at hooking a kingfish from the beach or bring your boat and explore the upper harbour; set a flounder net or catch a snapper. Horse treks available locally.
