Kuratau House is situated in a private setting 150 metres from the Kuratau River Mouth and Lake Taupo. Kayak hire is available down the road for exploring the beautiful Kuratau River or further up the lake. Kayak upriver then walk up the track for lunch at the popular local cafe! Go fishing then smoke your trout for dinner! 40 minutes from the Whakapapa skifields, 10 minutes from mineral hot pools at Tokaanu. Horse trekking 15 minutes away. 50 minute drive to Taupo if you feel the need to return to the mainstream or the urge to 'shop' for the day. You can get totally lost in the laid back lifestyle here. Listen to the birdlife, swim, fish, water-ski in water with 150ft deep visibility, explore further up the lake, go for bushwalks in truly native bush. Or just sit in the sun and read a book. You will take away with you a time you will never forget. Be aware that the 'barbarque' is a REAL barby. You need to put wood under the metal plate and light it up! Shades of your childhood? Tastes better as well!
