Branch Creek Furniture, Colville - Coromandel Township
Description
Greg Taylor builds unique handcrafted wooden furniture in his workshop in Colville, Northern Coromandel. He builds from solid Macrocarpa wood, felled from local sources. From tables to chairs and bookshelves every piece is unique and makes a fine addition to your house or bach.
Greg felled his first tree at the age of seven and has been using the wood to build with for just as long. He fells large Macrocarpa trees, and cuts them into large flat pieces up to 6.4 metres in length and 1.5 metres wide. They are then left to dry out for a few years. He uses natural shapes, holes and knots as features for table legs or sides of bookcases. They are works of art for the love of wood as much as they are pieces of furniture. The pieces are then oiled for a natural finish.
