Description
Use our self contained, furnished cabin (double queen), the furnished cookhouse and the extended decks (ideal for 2) or add the numbers to utilise our sleepouts (3 double beds) and your tents. Shop for provisions in Waipukurau then travel south-east on Porangahau Road for about 40-50 minutes untill you get to the Porangahau township (hotel/cafe and dairy). Turn right at the end of town and carefully follow signage to Te Paerahi (Porangahau) Beach, about 6 kms. We are at 54 Beach Road. Tar-sealed all the way from Waipukurau and just up the road from a 9 hole golf course and tennis courts. Boat launching at the Porangahau river bridge jetty. Experienced boaties also launch off the beach when the sea is gentle. The beach is beautiful, sandy, expansive and gently sloping but unpatrolled, so young children and non swimmers need close supervision. PLEASE NOTE! Prospective users should be able to follow operating instructions for the safe use of LPG appliances. Linen is clean but second hand and not ironed. The floors are clean but not polished. The decks are open. Bonnie Doon is a back to nature basic 'Kiwi Bach' experience.

Comments:
We have an LPG hot shower and toilet off the cookhouse, another LPG hot shower and toilet in the cabin and a toilet in the lean-to sleepout. All LPG should be turned off at the bottle (clockwise) and at the appliance each night. Someone should be responsible for checking this. If you need to replace LPG bottles, they have a bayonet fitting. DO NOT USE A SPANNER. Turn both taps off at the bottle connection and the fitting will then release when the bar is pushed. Spare LPG bottles are kept in the lower part of the cook house.
Bed Linen:
Supplied; Please bring your own beach towels. The double beds will be made up with clean linen (unironed). We use a variety of used towels and the kitchen crockery is preloved. Please bring your own linen for our squabs if you require them for extra beds.
Other Restrictions:
THE BEACH is lovely and expansive but has no lifeguard patrol. All care is required.

“This bach is truley awesome. Clever design with great flow from the cosy cabin, huge decks to the camp cookhouse. planned on staying for 2 nights but stayed 4 and to be honest did not want to leave. Porangahou is a great spot. Cant wait to return and bring some freinds along to share in this little gem. Highly recommended.

“We had a lovely time. This is a well equipped bach, great location to the beach, very sheltered by the magnificent palms. Thanks so much for sharing your bach with us – we’d love to come back.”
