Charteris Bay is just 30 mins from Christchurch - a quiet bay of Lyttelton Harbour, enroute to a number of popular visitor spots on Banks Peninsula - Diamond Harbour, Purau, Pigeon Bay, Akaroa. "The Old Shop" is a modern home in a sheltered spot - just cross the road to the beach. Easy care modern facilities ( microwave, BBQ) and an expansive deck to bask in the sun, gaze out to Quail Island, follow the recreational boating acitities on Lyttelton Harbour or watch the sun set over the Port Hills. Golf course and tennis courts (approx 1.5km away) adjoin Orton Bradley Park - a secret picnic favourite great for BBQ's and a variety of walking tracks. Paradise Beach is hidden at the foot of the hill (a 3 -4 min walk) another secret sanctuary of bay life! Regular ferries tour the harbour and cross from Port of Lyttelton to Diamond Harbour (often via Quail Island). A variety of cafes/bars and 'essential supplies' stores are dotted about the Peninsula - but with Christchurch so close, you are spoit for choice!
