There are three king suites, each with their own bathroom and lavatory, plus a small cosy cottage adjoining the house which has a Queen bed, shower and Lavatory in main house. $500 Total house Hire..

We can alway's cook for you at our normal rate for a 3 course meals if you would like to escape a night or two without cooking, (NZ$48.00 per head excl wine) it is an "option" while staying here at " The Port " please advise us in advance if you think you might like this option.

The Port has a large organic seasonal vegetable garden which is there for your use while staying with us. also organic free range eggs for your bereakfast.

Remember we live in a seperate house, so, all guests are free to have as much space as they require...We do have separate room rates please go to our website at www.theport.co.nz to view. Separate room rates do mean you could be sharing the home with other folk whom you do not know so .... the only way to really make sure this does not happen is to book the whole house - rate $500 per night.

Description

‘The Port’ is a self cater cliff-top residence, 2.5 acres sitting 2 Km above Gore Bay and looking north up the east coast to Kaikoura. A large fireplace creates a great ambience in the large lounge and a smaller wood stove in the kitchen area means warmth is always at hand. All water is triple filtered . A full kitchen or outside BBQ give you two cooking options.

Your hosts are on site living in a separate cottage, so help is at hand if you have any issues. We are 12 kms from Cheviot which is 122 kms north from Christchurch or 70 kms south from Kaikoura. There is no landline or Telecom reception but Vodafone reception is available. Full broadband internet at no extra charge.

With many things to do locally in this history-rich place we are only 1 hour west from the thermal regions of Hanmer Springs, 1 hour north to whale watching in Kaikoura and 1/2 hour south to the award winning restaurants of the Waipara wine growing regions. Whitebaiting in season and slamon fishing at the Hurunui River mouth or beach combing in Gore Bay give many outdoor options.
