Description

'PUPONGA TIME' is a holiday house in a waterfront environment with 2 separate units: the main unit ( sleeps 7-8 persons) and a comfortable studio (3-4 persons ). Both fully self-contained, they are next to each other, but have separate decks and entrances. We often rent the 2 units 'in combo' for families and their friends or extended family.

From here you can explore the treasures of Golden Bay: lots of walks through an open DOC farm along the West coast, or stroll our famous Wharariki beach. A seal colony is just 300 meters away, gather cockles ( clams) locally, use the double kayak to explore the lagoon inlet. Inspect the remains of the old coal mine and learn about the local history. A local cafe within a 10 minute walk offers beautiful views on Farewell Spit.

To see the bird sanctuary, an eco bus tour to the light house at the end of the Spit can pick you up from the house gate. Horse riding on Wharariki beach is an other option.
If all that seems too tiring, then just sip on a glass of wine, relax and look at the tide filling the lagoon across the road.
