Description

Skip's is a casual 2-bedroomed self-catering cottage in an enchanting bush setting on Stewart Island. Enjoy a beautiful outlook to old rimu trees and native bush reserve, and fantastic bird-watching. Skip's is well-equipped and ideal for groups up to 6 (more is a bit of a squash, but we have a sofa bed in the lounge). It is 2 mins walk from Paterson Inlet (beach, fishing and kayak hire), 5 mins from Golden Bay (water taxis to Ulva Island bird sanctuary), and 10 mins from Halfmoon Bay. Linen, transfers, refreshments and fuel provided.

Skip's has a modern flush toilet but it is accessed from outside the back door. There is no oven in the kitchen.

Skip's has the feel, in the best possible sense, of a treehouse or a tramping hut, without any of their limitations. Relaxing in the lounge, the view out of the large ranchslider gives a peaceful feeling of being in the treetops, and the cosy seclusion and casual atmosphere is reminiscent of a welcoming hut at the end of a day's tramp. Our guests comment on the total silence and blackness at night, brilliant for star-gazing.
