Fernbird Retreat is a new very well equipped holiday home. Suitable for families and small groups as well as couples. Local activities include coastal, wetland and bush walks, bird watching, kayaking, fishing, white baiting, kiwi tours, and boat tours on Okarito Lagoon.

Okarito is a quiet village known for its peaceful ambiance. Being off the beaten track, Okarito is an ‘experience’ only for those who seek it. This contrasts and complements the glacial and commercial focus of Franz Josef township 20 minutes away where the services of restaurants, groceries, fuel etc. are available. Activities in Franz Josef include scenic flights, guided glacier walks and hot pools.
