Description
The Okarito School house is a beautiful historic building maintained by the Okarito Community Association in conjunction with the YHA and Department of Conservation. It has a wonderful sunny ambiance and is ideal for small groups and families.
Okarito is a peaceful seaside village of 40 residents. It is famous for the coastal walks, kiwi tours, white herons plus other wading birds, kayaking and boat tours on the adjoining lagoon, New Zealand's largest unmodified wetland.
Okarito is 20 minutes from the glacier oriented activities at Franz Josef, where there are restaurants, super market, fuel etc.
