“Bula Grant and Amy,
We had a wonderful time at the Reef House, we became known as "the ladies from the Reef House!" Early April was a great time to stay at Musket Cove as it was quiet and sometimes we felt like we were the only ones on the island. For most of my family it was their first time in Fiji and they were really impressed as they weren’t expecting PARADISE!
The Reef House was just perfect for us, 7 ladies and one child, we had lots of room to spread out and relax, that’s when we weren’t at the resort swimming, eating or enjoying the huge range of fruit cocktails (alcoholic and non-alcoholic). We loved the openness of the home, different views out of every window and the Fijian feel of the home with the wooden masks, artefacts etc.
My daughter and I shared the main bedroom, and it was wonderful waking up each morning to the sound of the birds and laying in bed, looking out the window at the pink sky, beautiful frangipanni trees and the smell of freshness in the air, after rain in the evening. We loved the walk to the resort each day, and most evenings, as it gave us a chance to take in the scenery, talk to the workers and pick flowers along the way.
We only cooked one evening meal at the Reef House (none of us like to cook!) and ate at the resort the rest of the time. The resort food was just delicious and the service fantastic, by the second night our waitress knew all our names! On the evenings it rained the waitress organized Ruben to collect us and take us back to the Reef House, without us even asking them! Just wonderful service. Ruben was great, and even took time out from watching the rugby to collect us!
We all had massages, manicures etc at the Mandara Spa and were made to feel very welcome and special by the staff there. We did a walk late one afternoon up the road from the Reef House, as you suggested. Well the views were specular, with the sun beginning to set, little boats quickly carving their way through the calm sea, to get home before dark and the last Maolo Cat cruising into Musket Cove is a sight we’ll never forget.
We met Vukei and appreciated her coming each day to tidy etc. She is so friendly, one of my sisters gave her some children’s clothes, a big bag of rice etc, which Vuki really appreciated. We also chatted to Enoki, he does a great job keeping the yards neat and tidy. We gave him some food items , the morning we left, which he too was very appreciative.
As I mentioned our flight was cancelled or delayed by 24 hours, so it was disappointing to miss a day at Musket Cove, so we really made the most of the time we were there and being in Paradise we soon forgot about the delay. Stranded at the Sydney airport, I rang Musket Cove to inform them of our impending delay which meant we had to change Maolo Cat bookings, stay over in Nadi, etc, they kindly organized everything for us. They organized someone to meet us at the airport, booked us into accommodation in Nadi and had a driver take us to the Maolo Cat the next morning, it was just so wonderful, made everything stress free for us. I doubt very much one would get that same kind of service here in Australia!
We notified reception about one of the fire alarms needing a new battery, as it began to give out one beep every now and then. My niece Janice, flew out from Ireland with her 2 year old son, to be with us. She was so happy she didn’t miss out on such a wonderful holiday. There is talk of us organizing another trip next year!
Thanks for allowing us to book your Reef House, everything was just perfect, we thoroughly enjoyed our stay in the house and hope to return again one day soon. We will tell our friends about the Reef House.

“Bula Grant & Amy!!!!!!
Where do I start? First of all thank you SO much for allowing us to stay in your lovely house!
What a beautiful place!!!
Reef House, Musket Cove was beyond, far beyond our expectations! The house had everything that we needed and more! We were very comfortable, the bed was better than our one at home; air-conditioning was the cherry on the top. Finding the stroller was like discovering gold as Ella really didn’t feel like walking in the heat! We loved the walk to Musket Cove and thought the resort was such a lovely place. We used the gas barbecue quite a few times. The cover has been messed up by previous tenants though. They must have put it on when the braai was still too hot so it is melted a bit.
We went out on snorkelling trips often and were blown away by the beauty of the fish. It has to be the best thing I have EVER done. In the beginning I had trouble with the snorkel I brought with and was using in the pool just to get used to it and then I went and bought a good one from the dive-shop and everything changed. I was even swimming above very deep water and managed to go down and inspect underneath some of those flat coral things! Saw lots of cute Nemos and so many colourful interesting fish. The photos can’t do justice to what we saw. Joel had a great time and got very fit as he snorkelled under water a great deal taking photos. We made friends with some ex-S.Africans who have been living in Auckland for 11 years. Their first names are Cheryl and Mike. They came to look at Reef House and were SO impressed that they want to stay there for a few weeks in 2010 with their family. Very nice people! By the way we left the net for you!!
We went out with Jenny and Dave on their big Cat. and had an unbelievable day out with them. I hope that they do well so that they stay on there! Went to Malolo island which as you’d know is very pretty but we appreciated Musket Cove and Reef House even more. Sometimes I’d say `I can’t believe that we are actually here and I probably need someone to pinch me.`
The housekeeper Lady Vukei and maybe Va made such an effort to make things nice for us. There were Xmas decorations on the walls and also a lovely tree. Timmy got shouted at a few times for taking the decorations off the tree. He just found them irresistible!
We arrived exhausted and couldn’t appreciate the beauty around us but left happy and relaxed but not ready to leave for at least another week as there was still SO much to see. It really IS a paradise and although I didn’t think Eldon would say this but he is already planning another holiday in your home within the next 3 years!!! Your advertising is SO good though that we might not get in when we want to.
Your housekeeper is a lovely lady and just fitted in with us so well. She was another bonus!!!!
We met the cats. I was VERY naughty I fed the one that always seem to be around. Shame they have a real fight to survive I suppose.
James went fishing a number of times and caught some beauties which it really grieved him to have to kill for our supper. He really prefers the catch and release fun sport side of fishing! He would liked to have fished for the whole 2 weeks but Charmaine was feeling a bit neglected.
Her beautiful daughter Jess made some friends and broke a heart and by the end of the holiday wasn’t so worried about how she looked and she also got used to the kids and found them fairly amusing too. So we all had our rough edges smoothed quite a bit. James was looking very de-stressed and peaceful by the end of the holiday and the same applied to us all I suppose.
Joel when he said goodbye on Monday before he left via Singapore for London told his Dad that this was the best holiday that he has ever had. I agree. Nothing comes close.
We had Xmas and New Years dinner at Dick`s Place, a breakfast there as well and the one night when they had the pig on a spit? Wonderful food and Mike the manager went to a lot of trouble to make sure that people enjoyed seeing the New Year in. We didn’t stay up because of the little ones really!!
Had a couple of massages as well. Very well done. Both Joel and Eldon said that they were the best ever. I thought it was a very classy Spa! Massages were going half price before the 31st of December so we made the most of it! We all mistook one of the beauticians for a woman though !!??? A very pretty young man!
Already our amazing holiday in Paradise feels like a dream but it is one that we can think on for years ahead! Our friends back home will be looking forward to hearing all about it. It is definitely my kind of holiday.
We are going to be sending you a copy of the video Phil took and another one of the photos.
We will definitely be recommending Reef house to anyone who needs a place to recover from the stresses of life and to be able to just soak in such beauty although having said that I’d like to also keep it a secret!!!!!!!
Thank you so much again.
Best regards
Margaret and Eldon Fortmann

“Hi Grant,
Well, we had a great time from leaving home to getting back here. Nothing to complain about, just fun time…
The Reef house is just perfect for family Holidays. We could sort the bedrooms out so easy when we got there. Karen, Guga and the Baby got the main bedroom, Fabio and I got the other double one. Grandma got the single one and uncle Luciano the single bed located in the reading room. The kitchen got all the stuffs that you need during the holidays. Very cozy living room and the amazing deck for chilling out times.
All the staffs from the Resort are friendly and helpful. Our baby Kalani got so famous in the Island, every single person wanted to hold him for a bit, even other guests.
We did some trips, like Island Hop, Take a Break boat and the boys went to surf with Suji every day (good waves on the first 2 days) Fabio did his Advanced Open Water course and I took a fun diving as well.
Tks for all your tips, the "pig night" was awesome as well as the Island Bar (so much fun – Fijian Bitter)
The bikes are essential to move around. We went to Plantation Island a few times.
The girls did a Fijian Bobo massage at the Spa, soooo relaxed… After 2 days the boys decided to do it as well…hehehe
The housekeeper Vukei is just sweet, she loved our baby and could even put him to sleep only singing Fijian songs. We had a dog for a week that came every day to eat and to sleep, as friendly as the people!!!
The only thing we weren’t very lucky with was that the mangoes weren’t ready to eat :((
We met some other Brazilians and you know, where are brazilians there are some music around… Singing and playing every single night at the Island Bar was so much fun… Everyone got in the vibe…
I wish we could go back very soon, but we are sure that we gonna go next year again.
Thank you very much for letting us to stay at your place and well done, you have a house in the heaven!
Love from all of us,
Raquerl, Fabio, Luciano, Karen, Guga, Neire and Baby Kalani…
