“We stayed at the Coral Motel for three weeks so we know what we are talking about. Tony and Beth, the incredibly friendly and down-to-earth owners of the Coral Motel advertise their establishment as “Vanuatu’s Best Value Budget Accommodation” and we found this is exactly right. The rooms are comfy and spacious enough so as to accommodate a small army. The kitchens are brand new and equipped with all necessary cooking utensils and facilities, an incredible bonus for self-catering travelers like us. Rooms are serviced everyday and left spotless by the hotel’s attentive staff. The superb quality, fresh and crisp bed linen deserves a thorough thumbs-up. About Tony and Beth…well, what can we say? We were humbled by their hospitality. From the moment we set foot on their motel they behaved as only true good friends do. On the day that we arrived they lent us a few hundred Vatu so we could buy some basic stuff from next door’s shop. Tony took the trouble to drop us at and collect us from the airport whenever we needed and no matter what time of the day. Furthermore, they provided us with valuable tips on how to cope with our cultural shock and cheered us up when our mood was really low due to our unfulfilled expectations of the country. Beth insisted that “nothing was a problem” nd she meant it when, for example, she allowed us to store our luggage in the laundry room while away in Santo and then for nearly 3 weeks in Fiji. They also allowed us to use their washing machine and a special device designed by Tony to dry clothes off without using any kind of electricity whatsoever (the device is powered by solar and wind energies). We believe that the Coral Motel was undoubtedly one of the highlights of our two-month trip to the South Pacific and would unhesitatingly recommend it to our families and friends.
